JEAN-PHILIPPE RAMEAU 1683 - 1764
FOUR PIECES
Les Tendres Plaintes is from Rameau's Pieces de Clavecin written in 1724 for harpsichord and is transcribed here for guitar duet. Entree de Polymnie is from his opera Les Boreades and in this version is played as a quartet. La Cupis is from the fifth of his Pieces de Clavecin en Concerts written for harpsichord in combination with other instruments, usually violin and viola da gamba. It is transcribed here for four guitars. The piece is believed to be named after Marie-Anne Cupis, a celebrated dancer in the French Royal Academy of Music who performed in Rameau's opera Hippolyte et Aricie. The two minuets are from the Suite in G Major, originally for harpsicord and transcribed here for two guitars.
