JOHN DOWLAND 1563 - 1626
TWO PIECES
My Lord Willoughby's Welcome Home is a traditional English ballad of the sixteenth century celebrating the return to England of Peregrine Bertie, Lord Willoughby, after he had led an expeditionary force to assist the Dutch Republic in its war for independence from Spain. Dowland composed a version for lute. Melancholy Galliard is an original piece for lute by Dowland. Both are arranged here as guitar quartets.
